Farmington is bringing home a trophy that’ll be talked about in Tiger Territory for a long time.

In the 2026 MSHSL Boys Lacrosse State Championship, the top-seeded Farmington Tigers capped an undefeated season (19–0) by edging the Stillwater Ponies 10–9 in a one-goal classic. Stillwater (18–1) had been right there all night, and it looked like overtime might be inevitable — until Farmington found one last moment of magic.

A finish for the highlight reel

According to the Minnesota State High School League recap, Stillwater junior Keiran Jones tied the game 9–9 with 38 seconds left in regulation. The crowd barely had time to breathe before Farmington senior Brooks Furney buried the game-winner with three seconds remaining, sealing the Tigers’ first boys lacrosse state championship.
The Star Tribune described the game as a comeback story: Farmington spent much of the night chasing, then flipped the script in the fourth quarter. Tigers coach Mitch Grengs told the Star Tribune his team stayed focused and “chose to keep climbing,” even when the score and the moment could’ve swallowed them up.

Big-time performances on both sides

Farmington’s offense came in waves. The MSHSL recap noted three Tigers finished with hat tricks (three goals each): Brooks Furney, AJ Vinar, and Parker Nivala. For Stillwater, Keiran Jones also scored three goals, and senior Aiden Sargent added two.
Stillwater’s run was impressive in its own right — the MSHSL recap called it the Ponies’ second straight runner-up finish — but Farmington’s late push was the difference. The Star Tribune reported that AJ Vinar and Furney scored early in the fourth quarter to swing momentum and put the Tigers in position for that last-second winner.
