Wayzata’s girls track & field program added another trophy to an already-stacked legacy this spring, capturing the 2026 MSHSL Class AAA team state championship.
According to Wayzata Athletics, the title marks back-to-back state championships for the Trojans and the program’s third overall team state championship (2007, 2025, 2026). In other words: this wasn’t a one-off hot streak—this was the result of a culture that keeps showing up when it matters most.

A championship built on depth

Track & field is the ultimate “team sport in individual events.” A state title doesn’t come from one superstar performance—it comes from a full lineup that can score in sprints, distance, relays, and the field.
That’s why Wayzata’s repeat championship stands out. It takes more than talent to defend a title. It takes consistency across multiple events, athletes who can handle pressure, and a team that can deliver points all day long.

The 2026 state meet: the moment that sealed it

The 2026 state track & field season wrapped up with finals at St. Michael-Albertville, where Wayzata’s girls team finished on top.

Strib Varsity’s results recap reported that Wayzata scored 90 points to win the girls Class 3A team title.
